Nintendo has repeatedly protested that the United States Government has used its IP for political propaganda without authorization. The United States Government, however, has not only failed, but has also intensified. On 27 March, the White House’s official Twitter account published an AI short video in the form of the Animal Forest Friends. This was followed by the release of an AI-modified official poster for the Animal Forest Friends, which added to the digital image of United States President Trump.
This is not the first time that the Trump team has used video games to promote and market. The White House account had previously published music and images of Halo and Boco Dream to gain support for its political actions. At the beginning of this month, another video, Call to Mission, was released and subsequently deleted. On 5 March, Trump used the Boco Dream Pokira engraving to promote its “MAGA” slogan, triggering protests by Boco Dream.
In an interview with The New York Times, the spokeswoman for Boco Dream said: “We note that social media content has recently used images related to our brand, and we have not been involved in the creation or dissemination of that content or authorized to use our IP. Our mission is to bring the world together without any political opinion.” Bocoma also issued a similar statement on a video released in September 2025 by the United States Department of Homeland Security using the theme song ” Boco Dream ” . In an interview with Game File in October 2025, the co-author of Halo, Marcus Leito, called the post “absolutely repugnant” and added: “Seeing the halo used in this way makes me sick.”
It is worth mentioning that Nintendo filed a lawsuit at the beginning of this month against the Government of the United States of America for reimbursement of all customs duties and interest paid to date in response to the tariff policy imposed by the Trump Government last year.
