The U.K. game industry has called on the government to launch a game growth reduction program.

The British game industry, Ukie and TIGA, among others, issued a joint public letter calling on the Government to introduce the Game Growth Relief Scheme, which is a “targeted intervention to achieve the development vision directly”, for a project of 15 million pounds sterling.

The open letter stated that the plan would result in millions of pounds of economic reporting and the creation of thousands of high-quality jobs under the Government ‘ s recently released Creative Industries Area Plan. The letter emphasized that “the roll-out of play development assistance for projects up to Pound15 million (and between Pound15 million and Pound23.5 million in decline) is a targeted intervention aimed at directly achieving this goal. In particular, it supports the scale development phase of the British games studio, in which our excellent studios will be transformed from promising small and medium-sized enterprises to sustainable and globally competitive enterprises, thus contributing to the development of our industry in the coming generations.”

The Ukie and TIGA model estimates that the introduction of the Game Growth Relief Program will contribute up to Pound482 million annually to the UK economy ‘ s total added value and will create thousands of high-quality jobs across the country from Dundee to Brighton and from Gilford to Manchester. Earlier this year, TIGA responded to an expenditure review released by the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, finding the Government ‘ s commitment to increase funding for the creative industries to be “encouraged”. Last month, the organization also called for stronger tax incentives to support the development of the British game industry through a strengthened video game expenditure credit policy.
